Screening Breast Ultrasound

An ultrasound exam utilizes nonionizing sound waves to better characterize masses or lesions. For women with dense breast tissue, the sensitivity of mammography drops down to about 60%. Screening ultrasound can be used as an adjunct to your mammogram to help better detect any abnormalities. Discuss with your doctor if screening ultrasound is right for you.
