Screening Mammogram

A mammogram is an X-ray exam of the breasts for women without any symptoms and used to detect breast cancers. The American Cancer Society (ACS), American College of Radiology (ACR), and Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) recommend all women to start annual screening mammograms at the age of 40. Annual screening should be continued to at least the age of 74, however potentially even longer if you remain in good health. All mammograms at The Center for Women’s Health, utilize 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) which allows the radiologist to see more cancers than compared to the older 2D method.
